In the spring of 2010 I wrote about finding grape jelly all over the front of my minivan. Two years later and I still have no clue why it was there. I love reading old posts because it reminds me how fast the kids grow up and how quickly things change. The original post is HERE.
When you are a parent you expect your children to do strange things. Like when my oldest decided to paint his body "toad-t-ly" green or when my youngest pulled up a chair and climbed onto the kitchen counter to eat sugar with a spoon. I mean, those things are just silly and expected. When you catch your children you try to not laugh, but it’s hard!
Today at work during my lunch hour I noticed grape jelly all along the hood of my car. Not just a little but a whole lot!
Don't ask why I didn't notice it in the morning or while driving the car to work or even while parking it!
I mean really, grape jelly on the minivan?
What kind of sick kids do I have anyway?
What is the meaning behind this rebellion?
Do they not like my gourmet PB&J sandwiches?
At dinner I asked them what happened, all serious I was. And they just looked at me with big smirks on their faces.
Oh those little brats!
Who did it?
Was it all of them or just one or maybe two?
It could have been my oldest because he tends to get into stuff. He loves to make “Make-up Balls”, which are cotton balls soaked with whatever make up or face moisturizer he can get his hands on. He loves to throw the mushy balls up onto the bathroom ceiling, where they stick.
The chances of it being my daughter are so unlikely because whenever she does something naughty she admits to it very quickly.
She really has no shame.
Once she took down all the pictures on the fireplace mantel and drew mustaches and beards on everyone. Well, everyone but herself. The very moment I noticed them she looked at me and said “I did it, I admit it”
It could be my youngest because he is the one that loves to hide food under his covers in case he gets hungry during the night. One time I watched as he tip-toed into the kitchen and tip-toed back into his room with a slice of cold pizza. Many times I find food wrappers and containers under his bed. When I question him he is quick to blame someone else or shrug is shoulders in confusion.
I guess I will never know who did it or why they did it. However, I am sure there is a very interesting story behind it all.
