I heard the most amazing sound coming home from work last night.

I pulled my car into the driveway and I heard it.

It was a sound of passion; a sound of determination and of persistence.

The sound reminded me of my purpose and it brought about new hope and happiness. It helped me realize that nothing else matters because every day I come home to a house full of love.

As I got out of my car and as I walked closer to the house the sound got louder and louder.

When I opened the front door I found Julian and Winterlyn dancing together in the living room. They ran to me and both hugged me. Jacob was tucked away in another room and the house was filled with the sound of him playing on his drum set.

I peeked in the room that he was in and saw that he had his earphones on and I assume he was drumming along to the music he was listening too. Gosh, it was wonderful! He looked so at peace with his eyes closed and his body moving to the sound of his own music.

I knew my son played the drums, but I didn’t realize he played THAT well. It was so powerful and freeing and it made me want to dance!

I knew he had no idea that I was home, so I went back into the living room and danced with Julian and Winterlyn. As we danced and laughed I thought about Jacob drumming away and dreaming that he was a famous rock star with his fans cheering him on.

When I was all tired out from dancing I went into the room to say hello; he jumped up so fast and threw off his headphones in a panic. “Oh, did you just get home?”

I said “Yes”. I played it cool by adding “What would you like for dinner tonight?”

“Can you hear me playing from outside?” he said.

“No, not at all. Are you in the mood for fish sticks?”
